Debra Clark, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Clark began her career in Broward County 25 years ago as a mathematics teacher and became an assistant principal 17 years ago. Mrs. Clark was raised in South Florida and graduated from South Plantation High School. She earned her Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education from University of Florida, and her Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Nova-Southeastern University. Mrs. Clark has been an administrator in Broward for many educational levels, pre-school through adult programs. Mrs. Clark has worked to prepare students for college and careers and has been instrumental in coordinating the secondary and adult programs at Whiddon-Rogers. Her broad range of experiences makes her an asset to the school.

John Battle

John Battle III, Assistant Principal

Mr. Battle is a graduate of Miami Killian Senior High School, Florida A&M University, and NOVA Southeastern University with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Joining the Broward County School District in 2002 as a Drama instructor, he revitalized the Hallandale Magnet High School Performing Arts and Track & Field Departments by using innovative teaching and coaching strategies. Mr. Battle has a unique ability to motivate his peers and student body to set and meet high expectations by inspiring them to strive for professionalism and academic excellence. He promotes high student achievement in the classroom and on the field of play. He has achieved success by developing programs that require inquiry, critical and constructive thought, and problem solving. It is an honor for Mr. Battle to join the Whiddon Rogers Education Center family as an Assistant Principal. His commitment to the overall success and well being of every student on our campus is paramount. He believes knowledge is power and education is the cornerstone of all successful people and systems. “If given the proper environment, exposure, resources and presentation all students can learn.”

Sharon Grant, Assistant Principal

Ms. Grant has served the students and parents of the Broward County School District for over 30 years as an English Teacher, a Guidance Counselor, and an Assistant Principal. She is a proud graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where she earned Bachelor Degrees in English and Political Science. She also holds a Masters of Science in Guidance and Counseling from Florida Atlantic University and a Certificate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Ms. Grant believes in the Chinese proverb: “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand”. She strongly believes that we need to show respect for our students and actively engage them in their learning and education in order to change their world.
