High School Academies

High school students may be scheduled in one of our career/technical programs when they register for school. These students have the opportunity to earn a certification in a profession. This enables students to either go directly into the workforce or transfer to a technical college for post-secondary education.

  • Automotive Technology – Students in this program have the opportunity to earn certification in several ASE areas, including brakes, painting/refinishing, maintenance/repair, electric systems, and engine repair. Students qualify to work in these areas, or they can go to a technical college for higher-level certifications.
  • Criminal Justice – Students in this program have the opportunity to earn a Security Class D license. This enables them to work as a security guard.
  • Culinary Arts – Students in this program will learn the basic of cooking, baking, and serving. They will then be able to transfer to a technical college to earn specialty certifications in these and other areas.
  • Business Management – Students in this program have the opportunity to earn Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and Quickbooks certifications. Then they an either go directly into the workforce or continue their postsecondary education at a technical or community college.
  • TV Production – Student in this program have the opportunity to earn Adobe Premier certification. Then they can either go directly into the workforce or continue their postsecondary education at a technical college.
  • Digital Design – Students in this program can become certified in Dreamweaver and Flash. With these website design programs, student can go directly into the workforce or transition to a technical or community college.
  • Music Technology – Students in this program can transition to Broward College where they can earn industry certification and an intership in Music Technology. They can also earn an Associate of Arts degree.
